3-Day Morocco Group Tour from Marrakech to MerzougaShared Sahara Desert experience

Your 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga group tour begins with an early morning pickup from your Marrakech hotel or riad. Travel towards the High Atlas Mountains and cross the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views of Berber villages and mountain landscapes. Continue to the famous Aït Ben Haddou, a historic fortified ksar and one of southern Morocco's most impressive sights.

After exploring the kasbah, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert. The journey continues through the Valley of Roses and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs before reaching the Dades Valley. In the evening, check into your hotel or traditional kasbah and enjoy dinner. This first day combines mountains, historic architecture and dramatic southern landscapes.

After breakfast, continue your journey towards the Sahara. Drive through the Dades Valley and towards Tinghir, where you will stop to explore the impressive Todra Gorge. Take a walk between the towering canyon walls before continuing through the palm-filled oasis and towards Erfoud, famous for fossils and traditional stone craftsmanship.

Continue to Rissani before reaching Merzouga and the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. In the late afternoon, leave the vehicle and begin your camel trek into the Sahara. Ride through the golden dunes as the sun begins to set, arriving at your desert camp in time for dinner. After dinner, enjoy traditional Berber music around the campfire and spend the night beneath the stars.

Wake early to enjoy the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and begin the long journey back to Marrakech. The return route takes you through the pre-Sahara landscapes and the beautiful Draa Valley, with its extensive palm oases and traditional kasbahs.

Continue towards Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains once again. There will be stops along the way for photographs, refreshments and breaks. Because this is a long driving day, you should expect to arrive back in Marrakech in the evening. The route is demanding, but it allows travelers with only three days to experience the Sahara and return to Marrakech.
