Itinerary

A detailed day-by-day journey through Morocco's most breathtaking landscapes.

Day 1

Marrakech → High Atlas → Aït Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley

Your 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour begins with an early morning departure from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Travel south through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which reaches approximately 2,260 metres above sea level.

Enjoy several photo stops along the mountain road before continuing towards Aït Ben Haddou. Explore this remarkable fortified ksar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its traditional earthen architecture and beautiful views over the surrounding landscape.

After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, often known as the gateway to the Sahara, before driving through the Valley of Roses and along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Arrive in the Dades Valley in the late afternoon, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a traditional hotel or riad.

Day 2

Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Erfoud → Merzouga

After breakfast, continue your journey towards the Sahara Desert. Begin with a visit to the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of Morocco's most impressive natural landscapes. Take a relaxing walk between the towering limestone cliffs before continuing through the palm-filled oasis of Tinghir.

The journey then takes you across the changing landscapes of southeastern Morocco towards Erfoud, famous for its fossils and dates. Continue through Rissani and the desert landscapes until you reach Merzouga and the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.

In the late afternoon, exchange your vehicle for a camel and ride through the golden dunes as the sun begins to set. Arrive at your desert camp, where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber music around the campfire and an unforgettable night beneath the stars.

Day 3

Merzouga → Sunrise → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate → Marrakech

Wake early to experience one of the most beautiful moments of your Morocco desert tour: sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga and begin your journey back to Marrakech.

Travel through the spectacular landscapes of southeastern Morocco, with stops for photographs and refreshments along the way. Depending on the route and road conditions, you can travel through the Draa Valley and the area around Agdz and Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains again.

Although Day 3 involves a long drive, the changing scenery makes the journey part of the experience. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where your private driver will drop you off at your hotel or riad.
